Industries we know how to read

Productivity looks different in a call centre, a hospital floor and a software release train. We bring a shared method and sector-specific pattern libraries to each.

Where we do most of our work

#VS-04A VXVX-lead

Healthcare systems

Clinical and administrative productivity, scheduling friction, documentation load and the handoffs between care teams and back office.

Financial services

Operations, servicing and controls-heavy back-office functions where capacity is often lost to rework and reconciliation.

Technology & software

Engineering focus time, release-train handoffs, on-call load and the meeting overhead that quietly slows delivery.

Manufacturing

Shift-based productivity, maintenance planning and the interface between plant operations and central functions.

Retail & hospitality

Store labour scheduling, task consolidation and the daily trade-offs between service and controllable hours.

Logistics & field service

Route and dispatch productivity, technician utilisation and the paperwork that eats time between jobs.

Professional services

Utilisation, realisation and the supervision model for large delivery teams working across multiple client engagements.

What carries across sectors

Beneath the obvious differences, the same five constraints recur. Work is fragmented across too many tools. Priorities are set in more places than they are delivered. Handoffs between teams carry hidden delay. Meetings are scheduled before the work they support. And managers are promoted for expertise, then left without a coaching routine. Recognising these patterns early is what lets a small team make progress quickly, whatever the sector.

Our sector knowledge is a starting hypothesis, not a substitute for evidence. We still observe the actual work and measure the actual baseline before recommending anything. What the pattern library buys is speed: we ask sharper questions on day one because we have seen the same constraint play out in a dozen comparable employers. It also helps us pick the right comparison group for benchmarks, so a hospital is measured against hospitals and a distribution centre against distribution centres.

If your sector is not listed, that is not a barrier. Roughly one in five engagements is in an industry outside our usual seven, and the method travels. We will tell you plainly if we believe we lack the context to do the work well.

Typical entry points by sector

  • Healthcare — documentation load & care-team handoffs
  • Financial services — rework & reconciliation effort
  • Technology — engineering focus time & release handoffs
  • Manufacturing — shift handover & maintenance planning
  • Retail — store task consolidation & labour scheduling
  • Logistics — dispatch utilisation & job paperwork
  • Professional services — utilisation & supervision model
